With the world's increased focus on the preservation of archaeological sites and promoting architectural tourism, cultural tourism stands as the guardian of ancient civilizations and promoter of contemporary ones.
One of the objectives of promoting cultural tourism and heritage preservation is to introduce a new understanding of certain cultures and their lifestyles, education, literature, and arts. These are factors that shape the essence of civilizations in the ancient world and the contemporary ages. It also aims to destroy the everlasting stereotypes about old or foreign civilizations.
Moreover, through focusing on the cultural aspects of civilizations, it is easier to discover new techniques of integration and promoting global dialogue. This has become crucial in the current circumstances where the world joins to face the threats of Covid 19. This resulted in open discussions on how to encourage sustainable tourism and eco-friendly environments.
Therefore, IEREK is organizing the 4th edition of the international conference on Cultural Sustainable Tourism (CST2022) to help researchers discuss sustainable approaches to preserving the cultural heritage of countries across the globe. The conference also aims at creating a mutual understanding of the importance of green tourism through explaining civilizations' various techniques of spreading their cultures.
The 4th edition of the conference is an integration opportunity to allow participants from different cultures and backgrounds to present their unique natures. From the comfort of you home, due to the global threat of Covid 19 and travel restrictions, you can participate in the discussions, attend the sessions, and present your research paper where it will be discussed by world experts and tourism enthusiasts.

To the north of Porto’s Metropolitan Area, Maia is a prosperous city, close to the airport and you’re also a few minutes from the coast for wide open Atlantic beaches.
For heritage there are medieval and Baroque churches, and graceful old estates for 18th-century nobility. Plus, Porto is never far away and has grand avenues and labyrinthine old districts to navigate, as well as more museums and monuments than you can pack into a single day.
Let’s explore the best things to do in Maia:
The Historical and Ethnographical Museum of Maia is located in Castelo da Maia close to the Santo Ovideo Park and Hill, in a building that was used as the Town Hall until 1902 and whose origin probably dates back to the 18th century.
Located next to the Via Norte, this monastery is a fine example of gothic architecture. The building was erected during the middle of the 14th Century by warrior monks from the Ordem do Hospital (Holy Order of the Hospital), and it is still possible to see the influence of military architecture in this religious building. The monastery no longer exists, but we can still admire this imposing church with its gothic towers. Also worth noting is the front, built in the 16th Century. King Fernando married his queen, D.Leonor Teles in this church.
The Maya Zoo is what attracts most viewers to the city. Family-friendly zoo with reptile house, sea lion show & small farm plus playground & restaurant.
Although there are mammals as diverse as tigers, brown bears, zebras, orbs, and popes, the zoo is known for its cold-blooded animals: there are more species of reptiles here than at any other attraction in the country. You will discover all kinds of turtles, tortoises, iguanas, epic, and snakes. Another famous inhabitant is the sea lion, who performs a show three times a day. There are also Eurasian eagle owls.
It is located in the Maia, one of the finest palaces in the entire Porto region. Quinta dos Cónegos dates back to the 1700s and is wrapped in gardens that are worth a visit alone. The most striking part of the property is the double corridors, with a beautiful loggia on the first floor, flanked by granite balustrades. Inside there is a chapel gleaming with goldwork, and living spaces rich in paintings, sculpture, and furniture.
