Introduction

Artificial intelligence has moved from the laboratory into the infrastructure of science and daily life. AI weather models now run in operational forecasting, the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry recognized AI-driven protein structure prediction, and autonomous AI agents are beginning to plan experiments, write code, and analyze data. In architecture and urban planning, generative and simulation tools are reshaping how buildings and cities are designed, tested, and managed.

Yet this progress has also exposed hard questions. The most capable systems still struggle to reproduce published research reliably, electricity demand from data centers is projected to double by 2030, and governments are only beginning to implement rules for how AI is used and held accountable. The next phase of AI will be judged less by what models can do in principle than by whether they are reliable, sustainable, and genuinely useful to people and places.

To address these questions, IEREK, organizes the International Conference: AI & The Human Sphere (AI-Sphere): Advances in Sciences, Well-being, and Civilization.

Held entirely in a Virtual (Online) Format, the conference brings together researchers, engineers, architects, clinicians, and policymakers from around the world without the cost of travel. AI-Sphere offers a rigorous, peer-reviewed forum where the people who build AI methods meet the people who must apply them in laboratories, hospitals, cities, and institutions.

Thematic Framework & Mission

Anchored by a cross-cutting track on foundation models, AI agents, and sustainable AI, AI-Sphere is organized around three interconnected pillars:

  • Pillar 1: Advances in Sciences: How AI, from scientific foundation models to autonomous research agents and self-driving laboratories, accelerates discovery in space science, physics, materials, Earth systems, and the life sciences.
  • Pillar 2: Advances in Well-being: How AI improves human health and living conditions, from medical foundation models, precision medicine, and neurotechnology to mental health and food and water security.
  • Pillar 3: Advances in Civilization: How AI transforms the built and social world, including architecture, cities, infrastructure, energy, education, cultural heritage, and the governance, safety, and economics of AI itself.

Publication & Global Academic Impact

In line with IEREK’s commitment to scientific dissemination, all submitted papers will undergo double-blind peer review assessing originality, methodological rigor, and academic integrity. Only papers that pass review and are registered will be included in the conference program and publications.

Selected accepted papers will be published in thematic volumes by Springer Nature. The series is indexed in Scopus. Other accepted papers may be considered for IEREK Press journals, subject to editorial review.

Through an accessible online format, AI-Sphere invites researchers worldwide to share rigorous work on how AI can serve science, health, and society.
