Artists have always found endless inspiration in the natural world, drawing from its intricate patterns, breathtaking landscapes, and delicate ecosystems. There is a profound allure in nature's ability to stir our emotions, remind us of the interdependence of all living creatures, and, in doing so, urge us to protect our shared environment.
Today, we are witnessing a global awakening as the importance of sustainability takes a central role in our collective consciousness. The urgency to address climate change, protect biodiversity, and adopt more eco-friendly practices has never been more evident. Artists and designers, with their unique power to influence and shape societal values, have an unparalleled opportunity to create work that not only inspires and engages but also raises awareness and fosters a deeper connection with the natural world.
The intersection of art, design, and sustainability serves as a catalyst for showcasing the profound influence that nature has on the creative process. It is through this vital lens that we seek to explore the boundless possibilities for sustainable art across various creative domains.
After the tremendous success of our first edition, which attracted a wealth of high-quality research and a vast number of applicants, IEREK is proud to announce the second edition of the Sustainable Creative Art: Inspiration from Nature (SCIN) conference. To maintain the high standards we established, IEREK, in collaboration with The Istituto Marangoni Milan, has selected Milan, a city celebrated for its creativity and design, as our host. The National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci will host the grand opening on November 10, 2026.
IEREK is excited to invite designers, architects, artists, scholars, and industry professionals. We will explore the innovative strategies employed by creative sectors as they embrace sustainability and integrate nature-inspired elements into their work. Delegates will explore how architecture can find sustainable solutions to environmental problems, creating structures that blend seamlessly with their surroundings while minimizing their ecological footprints. The transformative power of interior design will also be highlighted, showcasing how spaces can be enriched with natural elements that promote well-being and sustainability.
The conference will emphasize the crucial balance of sustainability and aesthetics across all disciplines of design, including graphics, urban planning, materials, and even fields like mechanics and IT. These areas profoundly impact our daily lives. Participants will see how the industry is at the forefront of adopting sustainable practices, from initial design ideas to responsibly sourced materials and final models. Additionally, photography, painting, and other visual arts will capture and immortalize the essence of nature’s beauty, while decorative murals invigorate urban environments, bringing with them the vibrant colors and motifs inspired by the natural world.
The SCIN conference, which will take place from November 10 to 12, 2026, promises to be an enriching and enlightening experience, uniting academics, innovators, artists, industry professionals, and enthusiasts to explore the vast possibilities of sustainable art. We invite you to join us in Milan as we celebrate nature’s beauty and its significant influence on the creative process. By fostering diverse voices and perspectives, the conference will establish a global network of artists and scholars dedicated to exploring the potential of sustainable art. Together, we can confront the challenges and seize the opportunities presented at the intersection of art, sustainability, and nature.

iDirect is a new and efficient platform that allows direct submissions of research papers across various fields of science. iDirect accepts and covers all fields of science, not only those related to a particular conference. Individual authors are encouraged to submit their research discussing new ideas and presenting solutions to everyday problems that fall under numerous scientific themes. The iDirect platform is integrated into the peer review system for online conferences. You can publish your work through iDirect without the need to attend the conference or adhere to any submission deadlines. iDirect accepts a wide range of disciplines, eliminating the need to align with the conference's specific theme or scope. Based on the scope of your research, we will identify the most relevant proceedings for publication. The editor will schedule a discussion with you to review your presentation before proceeding to the peer-review process. Learn more here!
IEREK puts a lot of effort into expediting the peer review process to publish articles as quickly as possible. This requires prompt responses from all authors to the editors' comments, if any. Your swift response is highly appreciated to advance the production process and get your articles online. We prioritize the first author to respond as per our formula. The conference proceedings will be divided into multiple books, with the first one scheduled for publication within 3 months after the conference date. We encourage all authors to aim for publication in the first release.
For participants who need Entry Visas to the country where the conference will be held, IEREK will issue the corresponding invitation letter for accepted applicants to facilitate visa issuance. Please notice that we will attempt to assist you in obtaining a visa but the responsibility is yours and the decision rests solely with the appropriate Embassy. Rome is one of the world’s most iconic and historic cities, with a rich past that stretches back more than 2,500 years. From its earliest days, it has been a powerful hub for politics, culture, and innovation. The origins of Rome are wrapped in myths and legends, with several fascinating stories about how the city was founded. Over time, it became the heart of the mighty Roman Empire, ruled by legendary emperors and Caesars, shaping the course of history for centuries to come.
The following are some suggestions of places to visit while you are in Rome, Italy.
1. Colosseum

The Colosseum, also called the Flavian Amphitheatre, is one of Rome’s most famous landmarks and a symbol of ancient Roman power. Built between 70 and 80 AD, it could hold around 50,000 spectators for events like gladiator fights, animal hunts, and public shows.
Its architecture and engineering were advanced for its time, with underground tunnels and a complex seating system. Despite centuries of damage, the Colosseum remains a powerful reminder of Rome’s imperial past. Today, it is a major tourist attraction and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, drawing millions of visitors each year to witness its enduring legacy.
2. Trevi Fountain

The Trevi Fountain is one of Rome’s most famous and beautiful landmarks. Completed in 1762, it was designed by Nicola Salvi and later finished by Giuseppe Pannini. The fountain features a stunning sculpture of Oceanus (god of the sea) surrounded by horses and tritons, all flowing into a large, clear pool.
According to legend, tossing a coin over your left shoulder into the fountain ensures a return to Rome. Located in a lively square, the Trevi Fountain attracts millions of visitors each year who come to admire its baroque beauty and take part in the charming coin-throwing tradition.
3. St. Peter’s Basilica

St. Peter’s Basilica, located in Vatican City, is one of the largest and most important churches in the world. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, it was designed by renowned architects including Michelangelo, who created its iconic dome. The basilica stands on the site believed to be the burial place of Saint Peter, one of Jesus’s apostles and the first pope.
Inside, it houses masterpieces like Michelangelo’s Pietà and Bernini’s grand altar canopy. St. Peter’s Basilica is not only a center of Catholic faith but also a symbol of Renaissance architecture, attracting millions of visitors and pilgrims each year.
4. Roman Forum

The Roman Forum was the heart of ancient Rome and served as the center of political, religious, and social life. Located between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, it was home to important government buildings, temples, and marketplaces. For centuries, Romans gathered here for public speeches, elections, trials, and celebrations.
Famous structures like the Temple of Saturn, the Arch of Titus, and the Curia (Senate House) still stand among the ruins. Although much of the Forum is in ruins today, walking through it offers a powerful glimpse into the grandeur of ancient Rome and its influence on Western civilization.
5. Trastevere

Trastevere is one of Rome’s most charming and lively neighborhoods, known for its narrow cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and authentic Roman atmosphere. Located on the west bank of the Tiber River, Trastevere offers a mix of history, culture, and local life.
It’s home to beautiful churches like Santa Maria in Trastevere and hidden piazzas filled with cafés, street performers, and markets. By day, it’s a quiet place to explore ancient architecture and artisan shops; by night, it becomes a hotspot for dining and nightlife. Trastevere captures the soul of Rome, offering visitors a more intimate, less touristy experience of the city.
