Over the past few years, the field of AI has seen tremendous growth and progress. With Open-AI spearheading efforts on the development of generative intelligence, it almost feels like we’re on the precipice of a new, AI-Augmented reality. Chat-GPT’s public release back in November 2022 shook heads all around the globe. The language-based model’s capabilities were stunning and almost human-like. While some of us were tinkering with what it could do, others feared its implications and cautioned of the world to come.
The truth is that AI has been humanity’s go-to assistant for a while now. It just hadn’t been able to be “creative” until very recently. For example, AI has been aiding humanity to advance in the medical field, by helping doctors and healthcare professionals make more accurate diagnoses and analyzing large datasets to identify patterns and insights that may be difficult to discern manually. Moreover, AI has been a major aid in agriculture, helping farmers to optimize their crops, reduce waste, and predict weather patterns to improve crop yield. Another usage of AI that has been behind the scenes, is the usage of algorithms in the entertainment and advertising industry. Things like engagement time, the links you click on, and the people you deem as friends or connections, all get fed as inputs to artificial intelligence algorithms that meticulously engineer the perfect advertisement or video recommendation to keep you engaged for longer.
Contemporarily, AI has breached a frontier that we have always thought was uniquely human. Creativity. Language-based models such as GPT, BERT, and XLNet can now generate genuinely human-like text. They can create stories, help you write emails, or even generate functioning code. It is the closest we’ve gotten to generative intelligence yet. It doesn’t stop there, however. AI models such as DALL-E and Midjourney can create works of art that are increasingly becoming indiscernible from human creations. So, the question is, how long until AI becomes truly sentient? What kind of threat does the rampaging progress of AI pose to humanity? How can we ensure the continued progress of AI without jeopardizing humanity?
Seeking answers to these questions and more, we invite researchers and experts from all over the world to join us at the first “Artificial Intelligence and Computational Technologies” conference. At this event, we will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, explore new frontiers, and envision the future of AI. Let us come together to pave the way for a smarter, more ethical, and more sustainable future.

About ASTI
Advances in Science, Technology & Innovation (ASTI) is a series of peer-reviewed books based on important emerging research that redefines the current disciplinary boundaries in science, technology and innovation (STI) in order to develop integrated concepts for sustainable development. It not only discusses the progress made towards securing more resources, allocating smarter solutions, and rebalancing the relationship between nature and people, but also provides in-depth insights from comprehensive research that addresses the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) as set out by the UN for 2030.
The series draws on the best research papers from various IEREK and other international conferences to promote the creation and development of viable solutions for a sustainable future and a positive societal transformation with the help of integrated and innovative science-based approaches. Including interdisciplinary contributions, it presents innovative approaches and highlights how they can best support both economic and sustainable development, through better use of data, more effective institutions, and global, local and individual action, for the welfare of all societies. The series particularly features conceptual and empirical contributions from various interrelated fields of science, technology and innovation, with an emphasis on digital transformation, that focus on providing practical solutions to ensure food, water and energy security to achieve the SDGs. It also presents new case studies offering concrete examples of how to resolve sustainable urbanization and environmental issues in different regions of the world. Read More.
The ASTI series is fully indexed in Scopus and any chapter/ paper published as part of this series will be seen on the Scopus database. Some titles have been successfully indexed or submitted for indexation in Web of Science (ISI).
About SUCI
Sustainable Civil Infrastructures (SUCI) is a series of peer-reviewed books and proceedings based on the best studies on emerging research from all fields related to sustainable infrastructures and aiming at improving our well-being and day-to-day lives. The infrastructures we are building today will shape our lives tomorrow. The complex and diverse nature of the impacts due to weather extremes on transportation and civil infrastructures can be seen in our roadways, bridges, and buildings. Extreme summer temperatures, droughts, flash floods, and rising numbers of freeze-thaw cycles pose challenges for civil infrastructure and can endanger public safety. We constantly hear how civil infrastructures need constant attention, preservation, and upgrading. Such improvements and developments would obviously benefit from our desired book series that provides sustainable engineering materials and designs. The economic impact is huge and much research has been conducted worldwide. The future holds many opportunities, not only for researchers in a given country, but also for the worldwide field engineers who apply and implement these technologies. We believe that no approach can succeed if it does not unite the efforts of various engineering disciplines from all over the world under one umbrella to offer a beacon of modern solutions to the global infrastructure. Experts from the various engineering disciplines around the globe will participate in this series, including: Geotechnical, Geological, Geoscience, Petroleum, Structural, Transportation, Bridge, Infrastructure, Energy, Architectural, Chemical and Materials, and other related Engineering disciplines.
SUCI series is now indexed in 𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗣𝗨𝗦 and 𝗘𝗜 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅.
