Professor John Lennon Ph.D. MPhil BSc (Hons)

Primary Responsibilities

John is the Assistant Vice Principal, Glasgow Caledonian University with responsibility for business development and industry engagement. John is also the Director of the Moffat Centre for Travel and Tourism Business Development. The Moffat Centre is responsible for the production of international consumer and market research in tourism and it funds scholarships for students wishing to study Travel and Tourism (for details see www.moffatcentre.com). Since 1999 over £1,400,000 worth of scholarships have been awarded to students of travel and tourism.

In the commercial sector of travel and tourism John has undertaken over 550 tourism and travel projects in over 40 nations on behalf of the private sector and public sector clients. He undertakes research and commercial work in the fields of tourism development, destination marketing and financial feasibility of tourism projects.

Member of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Presidents Club; key influencer network in the city of Glasgow, (2013-present)

Awarded Fellowship of the Centre for African Policy Research and Development Scotland (2013-present)

Former member of Strathclyde European Development Monitoring organization (appointed by Scotland’s First Minister with specific responsibility for Tourism projects) 2010-13

Former Board Member of the Canadian Tourism Commission European Marketing Group (2004-8) and National Trust for Scotland (2003-7)

John is the author of five books and over 80 articles and numerous reports on the global travel and tourism industry.
