Francesco Di Paola is an Engineer, PhD in "Representation and Surveying of Architecture and Environment"; from 2011 he is a researcher at the Architecture Department of Polytechnic School of Palermo. He is qualified to the functions of associate professor, 08/E1-Design. In 2019, he received the "Matteo Dellepiane award" for best paper: High Quality Texture mapping Process aimed at the optimization of 3D Structured Light models, dell’8th International Workshop 3D-ARCH “3D Virtual Reconstruction and Visualization of Complex Architectures”, Bergamo, Italy, sezione 3D Modeling. In 2011 he is member of the International Scientific Commission of the Doctoral Court at the Universidad de Valladolid, Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura - Departamento de Costrucciones Arquitectònicas. Since 2007 he establishes scientific collaboration with the School of Geometry and Didactic of Mathematics at the Department of "Algebra, Geometry and Didactis of Mathematics" of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. He is reviewer-member of international scientific journals: Nexus Network Journal-Architecture and Mathematics, Conservation Science of Culture Heritage, Diségno UID. He is member of technical committees of international conferences: IASTED, International Association of Science and Technology for Development, 2014-2017; EGraFIA, Expresión Gráfica en Ingeniería y Arquitectura, 2014; 5th INTBAU International Annual Event Heritage, Place, Design: Putting Tradition into Practice 2017; EGA, 18th International Congress of Architectural Graphic Expression, 2020. He is an active member of international research associations: ISGG (International Society for Geometry and Graphics) and EGraFIA (Expresión Gráfica en Ingeniería y Arquitectura) and, in the national field, of UID (Unione Italiana del Disegno). He is reviewer-member of international scientific journals and he is a member of international proceedings technical committee. His research interests are mainly topics in the field of Architectural Geometry, Computer Graphic, Algorithms-Aided Design, Survey, Preservation and Fruition of Cultural Heritage, H-BIM. The research results have been the subject of more than 100 publications in scientific journals, proceedings of national/international scientific papers and monographs.
