Dr Benkari is Architect and Urban Designer. She holds a PhD in urban planning, M.Sc. Architecture, B. Sc. Architecture.

Her experience in teaching architecture and the profession spreads over two decades and covers several countries such as Algeria, Tunisia, France, UAE and Oman.

After having developed and chaired the first Architectural engineering program in Abu Dhabi-UAE, she is actually Assistant professor in the department of civil and Architectural Engineering in Sultan Qaboos University, Oman.

In terms of research, Dr. Naima has published several refereed articles and book chapters in different topics such as Architecture education and curriculum Design, Sustainability in architecture and Urban Design, built heritage preservation and management, architectural history, theory & criticism and the sacred and religious Architecture in the Arab and Islamic region.

She published a book entitled « L'architecture des mosquées Ibadites au M'Zab, Djerba ET Oman Tome I: Lecture des principes de conception et de construction » in two volumes By the Presses Académiques Francophones, Vol. I, 2013, 700 pages and Vol. II, 2014, 600 pages.
