Dr. Mohd. Fairuz Shahidan is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Landscape Architecture, Faculty of Design and Architecture, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

He received the Diploma in Architecture from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1999 and Bachelor in Landscape Architecture from

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2002.

He received the MSc in Landscape Studies from Universiti Putra Malaysia and PhD in Architecture from Cardiff University, United Kingdom, in 2008 and 2011, respectively.

His main research interests are in the field of architecture and landscape energy efficient design and planning.

His research is focusing on the exploration of landscape and green materials in improving the environmental problems such as Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon in the context of

tropical climate.

He is also interested in the study of climate responsive design that has significant impact on outdoor thermal comfort and building energy performances in the delivery of sustainable development.
