I am pleased to provide a thorough statement detailing my academic and professional background and experience, including academic and research interests with activities undertaken in academic positions (research, teaching, publishing, etc.). I received my primary education from Govt. primary School, 116 J.B Faisalabad Pakistan, where Urdu was the medium of education. I completed my matriculation from nearby High School of village 115/J.B. Later on I got admission in Govt. College Faisalabad now Govt. College University Faisalabad and completed my intermediate in pre-medical and graduation (B.Sc) in Chemistry, Zoology and Botany combination. I earned my Master in Chemistry (M.Sc) from University of Punjab Lahore. I worked during my M.Sc research work at Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology (NIAB), Faisalabad on soil carbohydrates dynamics. My research work was accomplished by using flame photometer, UV-VIS spectrometer and X-Rays diffraction analysis which was later published in Journal of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, with title “Effect of green and farmyard manure on carbohydrates dynamics of salt-affected soil” More I have worked in chemical industry, school education and textile sector for about six years, prior to applying for HEC scholarship for doctoral studies. The selection process was a rigorous process starting from a GRE-based test. After being short listed by HEC for indigenous 5000 fellowships batch-3 scheme, I got my admission at Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Farooq Anwar. I obtained my doctoral degree in analytical chemistry from the Department of Chemistry University of Agriculture Faisalabad; Pakistan. The research title of my dissertation was “Characterization of selected varieties of rice (Oryza sativa) and its by-product rice bran for valuable nutrients and antioxidants. During my doctoral research, I worked extensively with extraction and characterization of bioactive compounds using analytical protocols. In this regard, Preliminary experiments were conducted to appraise the proximate parameters and minerals, soluble carbohydrates and amino acids profile of rice varieties. Further, these varieties were evaluated for antioxidant activity using different solvents and extraction techniques. Through various antioxidant activity assays like DPPH radical scavenging, Reducing power, Metal chelating activity I evaluated the antioxidant potential of different varieties of rice (Oryza sativa). Additionally, I characterized analytically rice lipids for the fatty acids, phytosterols, tocopherols and γ-oryzanol profiles using HPLC, GC and GC-MS, where applicable. I successfully quantified palmitic and linoleic as the main fatty acids; β-sitosterol campesterol stigmasterol as the main phytosterols; α-tocopherol γ-tocopherol and δ- tocopherol as the major tocopherols and 24-methylcycloartenyl ferulate cycloartenyl ferulate and campesteryl ferulate as the main γ-oryzanol components. My research dissertation was evaluated from two international experts one from USA and other from Australia. My research during the five years of doctoral degree resulted into five (06) first author publications in international journals of good impact. Throughout my doctoral studies, I mentored and trained post graduate students and research associates in their respective projects. Instead of this work, I also worked in, Sandal Dyesstuff Industries for two years. There I worked as Process chemist for the synthesis of Azo dyes and Copper Pthalocyanin Pigments. I also served as Environment Management Representative at Ittemad textiles Faisalabad for two years. I worked as Assistant Director/Research Officer at analytical laboratory of Environment Protection Department, Punjab Pakistan on environmental analysis of air and water samples. During this period I analyzed many industrial sample of various categories of air emissions and water pollutants under the domain of National Environmental Quality Standards of Pakistan. My potential work was published in to Environmental Engineering and Management Journal with title “evaluation of air pollution sources in selected zone of textile industries in Pakistan” I joined the Department of Chemistry of University of Gujrat, Pakistan in July, 2012 and continuing my job as a Teacher and researcher there presently. I am teaching the course of various semesters of Bachelor of Science BS(Hons), Master of Science (M.Sc) Master of Philosophy (M.Phil/MS) and Doctoral of Philosophy (PhD) in the field of analytical chemistry (Detail given in CV). I have been able to win one research project from Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. With the grace of Almighty I have been able to win travel grant to present my research in national university of Seoul, Korea. I have also supervised M.Phil (03) M.Sc (01) and BS Hons (01) research student for their thesis. Presently, one PhD scholar and four M.Phil/MS research students are conducting their research work in my supervision. Being an analyst my field of research covers food cereals analysis and environmental analysis. Detail of research work titles is given in my CV. More to research I am working in collaboration to my colleagues Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq (Associate Professor) and Dr. Muhammad Nadeem Zafar (Assistant Professor) of analytical chemistry section Dr. Muhammad Faizan Nazar (Assistant Professor) in Physical Chemistry Section, Dr. Muhammad Sajjad Hussain Summera (Assistant Professor) in inorganic Chemistry section and Dr. Mujahid Farid (senior lecturer) in the Department of Environmental Sciences. I this collaboration I have been able to produce recent research publications (2018) in the journals of high impact. Furthermore, I have organized one international symposium and one national interdisciplinary workshop on HPLC and GC-MS. I also participated in many conferences/symposia/workshops during my academic activities. I have many training on instrumentation and techniques used in analytical chemistry for the purpose of characterization of samples and materials. I am also working additionally as laboratory incharge of HPLC and GC-MS techniques. As I mentioned earlier that here in my own institute I am teaching courses of various semester of different levels like PhD, MS/M.Phil, M.Sc and BS(Hons). I am teaching twelve (12) credit Hrs. in a week. In addition to teaching I am mentoring/supervising PhD and MS/M.Phil scholars in research so I can support in research development in host organization. My hands on training experience of analytical techniques can also be a good support to research laboratory and research students. I am confident that with my education and experience in the field of chemistry, I am a strong candidate for the post of assistant professor in analytical chemistry. I have enclosed my resume for your consideration. I will be happy to submit any additional information on your requirement and I will look forward for a consent letter. Thanks Sincerely, Dr. Muhammad Zuair
