The Most Visited buildings in Barcelona

Attending a conference in Barcelona, Spain is more interesting than attending it in any place else, as it contains lots of interesting places.

Barcelona has lots of famous buildings such as; la Sagrada Familia, the Park Güell, the Palace of Catalan Music, the Casa Milà, the three Dragons Castle, Palau Mrnau, Casa Bonaventura Ferrer, Casa de les Punxes, Catalan electricity center, Hivernacle, Umbracle, Les Planes railway station, and more.

La Sagrada Familia is a Huge Cathedral that is considered one of Barcelona’s most popular tourist attractions and considered Gaudi’s masterpiece that has been under construction since 1882 until 1926. The Sagrada Família Cathedral is considered an example of the Art Nouveau period.

The Park Güell is a public park that contain a garden with architectural elements, it was built from 1900 to 1914, it’s located on the Carmel hill in the Gràcia district, Barcelona.

Palau de la Música Catalana (Palace of Catalan Music) is a concert hall located in Barcelona built between 1905 and 1908. In 1909 it received an award for the best building of the year from the Barcelona City Council. the ceiling of the vestibule is decorated with glazed ceramic moldings that are arranged in the shape of stars.

The Casa Milà popularly known as ” La Pedrera”, is a building situated at Passeig de Gràcia Avenue. It is probably Gaudi’s second most popular building in Barcelona. In 1984 the UNESCO declared it to be a World Heritage Site.

Castell De Les Tres Dragons (the Three Dragons Castle), a cafe and restaurant designed for the 1888 Barcelona Universal Exposition. It is considered to be the start of the modernist period. Now, the building contains Barcelona’s Zoology Museum.

Palau Mrnau is a 15th century edifice in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter remodeled within the style of Modernism in 1908. The building was renewed and converted into the Hemp Museum Gallery in 2012.

Casa Bonaventura Ferrer was built in 1906. Since 1979 it has been listed as an historical and artistic heritage of Barcelona. The building was remodeled and transformed to a very luxury boutique hotel under the name of “El Palauet” in 2010.

Casa de les Punxes (House of Spikes), is a building located on Avinguda Diagonal, it was constructed in 1905. The house includes diversified ceramic panels illustrating patriotic motifs.

Catalan electricity center is an industrial building constructed between 1896 and 1899 as the headquarters of the Hydroelectric plant in Catalonia, as a Catalan power company.

Hivernacle  is a greenhouse located in the Parc de la Ciutadella, it was built for the 1888 Universal Exposition in Barcelona.

Umbracle is  A shade house located in the Parc de la Ciutadella, it was built for the 1888 Barcelona Universal Exposition. During the exhibition it was used as a pavilion and afterwards, the building recovered its original function.

Les Planes railway station  is the modernist railway station in the Serra de Collserola hills, district of Barcelona , The station has three tracks, The station building is considered to be  the only example of a railway station in Catalonia executed in the modernist style; although the track nearest the station building is a terminal track it’s only accessible from the south. This platform is accessed by footbridge, stairs, and lifts.
