Sustainability Definition<\/h2>\n

Sustainability is the property of biological systems to remain diverse and productive
\nindefinitely. In more general terms, sustainability is the endurance of systems and
\nprocesses. It includes the four interconnected domains: ecology, economics, politics, and
\nculture.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sustainability science<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Sustainability<\/strong><\/a> science is the study of sustainable development and environmental science. It can also be defined as a socio-ecological process characterized by the pursuit of
\na common ideal. An ideal is by definition unattainable in a given time and space. However, by persistently and dynamically approaching it, the process results in a sustainable system.<\/p>\n

The sustainable cities<\/a> emerged as a reaction to industrial development and the spread
\nof advanced technology, which led to pollution<\/a>, and has become part of the
\ncontemporary world. It has reached all aspects of life and has several forms; whether in
\nclimate pollution<\/a>, which extends through the effect of carbon dioxide and methane, and
\ncauses damage to public health.<\/p>\n

Methane is considered the most dangerous gas to the<\/strong>
\nplanet and has a number of sources:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u25cf Natural gas fields; where methane is considered the main component of natural
\ngas, with about 87% of the total extracted.
\n\u25cf Biogas, methane production is a part of the biogas production process through
\nfermentation and decaying of organic materials such as manure and sewage.
\n\u25cf Animal waste; some animals produce methane as part of the organic waste. For
\nexample, cows produce about 16% of the amount of methane on earth.

\nincrease its dependence on electrical energy in transportation.
\n\u25cf The existence of means to minimize the urban sprawl through finding ways to live
\nnear work areas.<\/p>\n

\n\u25cf The use of technological means in the devices that have the ability to save energy.<\/p>\n

The most interesting concept of sustainability is the architecture<\/a>. Through the application of
\nthe concept of sustainability in construction<\/a> and urban planning, the work of restructuring
\nthe industrial cities and urban areas to cope with the scientific concepts of sustainability.<\/p>\n

The architectural designer must take into consideration when designing the green cities or
\nsustainable cities<\/a>, the city\u2019s environmental analysis, as well as be creating green spaces, and
\nthe use of recycling in all aspects of construction. In addition, the reliance on renewable
\nenergy sources<\/a> such as wind and solar energy and hydropower, the industrial enterprises

There are several examples of sustainable cities around the world, at the top of these are:
\nZurich at the top of the list increased by 74.6%, came in second place Singapore City
\nincreased by 74.1%, Stockholm increased by 73.9%, Vienna increased by 73.4%, London
\nincreased by 73.2 %, Frankfurt increased by 70.6%, Seoul increased by 69.6%, Hamburg
\nincreased by 69.2%, Prague increased by 69.1% and Munich increased by 68.6%.<\/p>\n

In terms of the Middle East and developing cities are Abu Dhabi and Dubai on top of
\nsustainable cities in the Middle East, where they succeeded in reducing energy
\nconsumption by more than 33% and by following the standards for sustainability and clean
\nenergy.<\/p>\n

\nWe must mention the role of the known certificate \u201cLEED\u201d that assesses the degree of
\nsustainability in buildings or cities. It has several criteria including sustainable location as
\nwell as efficient use of clean energy whether it\u2019s the wind, water or solar energy or sewage.
\nIt also assesses the quality of the internal environment and innovation, degrees in design,
\nthe degree of decomposition of waste and recycling. LEED also undermines certification to
\nthe degree of improvement of energy and this enhances the level of creative thinking in
\nfinding creative forms of power generation and increases waste recycling efficiency.<\/p>\n
