Overview<\/strong><\/a><\/p>

The 12th AARSE International Conference, AARSE 2018, Earth Observations and Geospatial Science in service of Sustainable Development Goals will be held in Alexandria, Egypt, at the Arab Academy of Science and Technology from 25th to 29th of October, 2018.<\/span><\/a><\/p>

This conference will be a major event\u00a0in the African and\u00a0international community\u00a0of Earth observation and geospatial information science in 2018; it will be organized by\u00a0the African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment\u00a0(AARSE) and the\u00a0Arab Academy of Science and Technology<\/a><\/strong>, in partnership with the\u00a0National Authority for Remote Sensing & Space Sciences<\/strong>\u00a0(NARSS)<\/a>.<\/p>

AARSE<\/strong>\u00a0is a non-political scientific organization. Its primary objective is to increase the awareness of African governments and their institutions, the private sector and society at large, about the empowering and enhancing benefits of developing, applying and responsibly\u00a0utilizing the products and services\u00a0of\u00a0Earth Observation Systems and Geo-information Technology<\/strong><\/span>. AARSE membership includes professional individuals, institutions and national associations from all over Africa and worldwide working in domains related to remote sensing, photogrammetry, and geographical information science.<\/p>

The AARSE international conference<\/strong>\u00a0is conducted biennially across Africa, alternately with the AfricaGIS conference, and is the premier forum in Africa for research on\u00a0remote sensing technologies\u00a0and\u00a0geospatial information science, gathering leading scholars from the remote sensing and related communities. AARSE conference series commenced in 1996, in Harare (Zimbabwe) and has been held in Abidjan (Cote D\u2019Ivoire) in 1998, Cape Town (South Africa) in 2000, Abuja (Nigeria) in 2002, Nairobi (Kenya) in 2004, Cairo (Egypt) in 2006, Accra (Ghana) in 2008, Addis Abeba (Ethiopia) in 2010, El Jadida (Morocco) in 2012, Johannesburg (South Africa) in 2014, and in Kampala (Ouganda) in 2016.<\/p>

The main objective of AARSE 2018<\/strong>\u00a0is to bring together scholars and professionals from the African and international community to present latest achievements, discuss challenges and share experiences. The conference program will feature keynote speeches delivered by\u00a0leading scholars, technical sessions with reports of the latest research outcomes, discussion sessions on operational topics such as capacity building,\u00a0Spatial Data Infrastructure\u00a0(SDI), space policy, programmes and projects, as well as commercial exhibitions showing latest products and services in remote sensing and geospatial information technologies.<\/p>

Paper selection<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0is based on extended\u00a0abstract<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0full paper<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0peer review following the guidelines provided in the \u201cCall for Pape<\/span>r<\/strong>\u201d document that can be downloaded from the conference website:\u00a0www.aarse2018.org<\/a><\/p>
