Architectural Measurements<\/strong> or land surveying<\/strong> is the technique, profession, and science of determining the terrestrial or three-dimensional position of points and the distances and angles between them.<\/p>\n

When reading legal land survey descriptions there are several things a land surveyor must keep in mind to conduct a proper survey. The following legal description is for a 42- acre parcel \u2013 T39N, R23W, Sec. 4, NW1\/4 SE1\/4.<\/p>\n

How to land survey <\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

First, one must understand that punctuation is crucial in reading legal land surveys. If a comma were included in between the \u201cNW1\/4\u201d and \u201cSE1\/4\u201d of this legal measurement\/description, then it would alter the reading to be for a 320-acre parcel. Second, all legal descriptions are read backwards. The legal land survey description is read from right to left, going from the smallest unit of measurement to the largest unit of measurement. Understanding these key points will enable you to conduct a more precise and accurate survey.<\/p>\n

\n\u2022It helps to prepare a cadastral map showing the boundaries of the fields, houses and other properties.
\n\u2022It helps to prepare an engineering map which shows the details of engineering works such as roads, railways, reservoirs, irrigation canals, etc.
\n\u2022It helps to prepare a military map showing the road and railway communications with different parts of a country.
\n\u2022It helps to prepare a contour map to determine the capacity of a reservoir and to find the best possible route for roads, railways, etc.
\n\u2022It helps to prepare a geological map showing areas including underground resources.
\n\u2022It helps to prepare an archaeological map including places ancient relics exist.
