Maria Luisa Germanà is Associate Professor of Architectural Technology at Palermo University. In 2012 she gained the National Scientific Abilitation as Full Professor of Technological Design of Architecture. In 1992 she gained her PhD at the University of Genova on the topic Recupero edilizio e ambientale (Building and Environmental Refurbishment) and after she has been awarded of a Post-doctoral scholarship at Politecnico di Torino.

She has or had several institutional or academic responsabilities: Member of UNI (Ente Italiano di Unificazione) 2001/05; Member of Executive Commettee of CIRCES (Centro Interdipartimentale Ricerche Centri Storici) University of Palermo since 2008; Secretary of degree course in Restauro, Recupero e Riqualificazione dell’Architettura (2003/11) and President of degree course in Scienze dell’Architettura (2011/2014); Member of Executive Council of SITdA (Società Italiana Tecnologia dell’Architettura) (2011/14); Delegated to the teaching activities since 2008; Member of Teaching Committee of PhD Courses since 2004.

She has been supervisor and tutor of over 60 degree and PhD Thesis.

She has or had several editorial responsibilities.

She has been promoter and Principal investigator of many international and national research projects.

She published over 100 scientific works since 1991.

She has been promoter and responsible person of many international and national congresses.

She was invited to participate as speaker or chairperson to international, national and local congresses and seminars.
