Dr. Wesam Mohamed Taha hold a PhD degree in Architecture and Urban Design from Alexandria University in Egypt in with a joint supervision with Ecole` Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture et de Paysage de Lille – France (ENSAP).
As an expert in the field of Urban Planning he added to the body of knowledge in regard of campus planning redevelopment technique and methodology by his dissertation submitted for the fulfillment of the doctorate degree of philosophy to Alexandria University & École Nationale supérieure d’Architecture et de Paysage (ENSAP) de Lille – France resulted with distinction, titled “Update & Redevelopment Strategy for Existing University Campus Master Plans”.
He is recognized as a leading expert and central figure in the field of urban morphology, urban policy and complexity science.
He advises leading international institutions in the field of urban planning and urban policies, among which the higher commission for development in Riyadh (ADA), and Ministry of municipalities and rural affairs (MOMRA) and the ministry of housing (MOH) in Saudi Arabia.
He participated in several international conferences and has publications in the field of architecture and planning besides his professional experience in Housing developments and urban upgrading and redevelopment projects.
Dr. Wesam Mohamed has been working as a Senior Architect & Urban Designer for more than 17 years with broad multicultural experiences in Conceptual Design, Urban & Planning, strategic planning implementation & projects Supervision for several highly recognized consultant firms participating on mega national projects in the Middle East – GCC region.
Dr. Wesam is one of the highly recognized calibers within the field of conservation and Preservation of Historical and Heritage sites and Managing the Redevelopment and update project team for Restoration and Preservation projects with governmental sectors in Saudi Arabia.
In addition to his broad professional experience handling and managing mega Urban Planning projects, he Leads Architects and Planners to establish and create mixed use and housing master plans for different housing Projects under the supervision of the Ministry of Housing. He participated as a lecturer for several courses for the undergraduates which includes but not limited to Urban Design & Planning, Site Planning & Housing, Environmental Design & Building Technologies and Visual Studies
He participated in several International Conferences, one of the latest is “Versus 2014 – International Conference on Vernacular Heritage, Sustainability and Earthen Architecture, and he published one of the unique papers titled “The Impact of Using Triangular Shapes on the Nubian and Najdi Architectural Composition”.
During the year 2013 Dr. Wesam has been selected to be the chairman for the word architecture congress took place in Saudi Arabia, and he participated in the National Built Heritage Forum during 2011 in Jeddah as one of the experts in the field of conservation and redevelopment of national heritage. He has been selected as a mentor for the UN-Habitat Urban Youth Fund – United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN-HABITAT).
Dr. Wesam is considered one of the leaders in the field of urban design and planning in Egypt and internationally, he is a member of the American green building council (USGBC) and the project management institute (PMI).
